October 2025 Round-up highlights and recording

Thank you all for joining the October 2025 Round-up. :tada:

If you missed the call, you can catch up on the highlights by watching this recording. Below are summarized notes from the call.

Agenda 1: A community story presentation - transforming community health surveillance through Disc Mali event based system.

Agenda 2 CHT Core Product Updates

For the past 3 months, the Code for GovTech (C4GT) and the CHT communities have been collaborating on the 2025 Dedicated Mentoring Program (DMP). Through this program, three selected contributors received mentorship from Medic Developers and worked on the following CHT enhancements/projects:

  1. New REST APIs and Functions in the CHT:

    • 6 New REST API’s were added to create and update entities like person, place and reports. These changes provide a consistent, simplified, and programmatic way to create and update these common entities, reducing complexity for Developers.

    • 6 utility functions have been added to the cht-datasource library, these changes allows App Developers to create a person with a nice interface without having to manage lots of data.

  2. New version of pyxform (v4.0.0)

    • Pyxfom is a library that is used to convert a form into XML

    • The teams worked on upgrading from the old version of the customized pyxform (v0.9.5) to v4.0.0. This is still in progress and the team is finalizing on making sure it is backward compatible. This will be shipped in the new version of cht-conf

    • This upgrade is expected to have loads of features, fixes and improvements for forms.

Agenda 3 - kapa.ai (CHT AI Assistant) Updates.

This is a new AI-powered assistant that has been integrated directly into the CHT documentation site.

  • The functionality supports the following key features:

    • Broad Knowledge: It can answer questions on a wide range of CHT topics, from form design and target configuration to deployment.

    • Multi-Language Support: It works in several languages, including French, making it more accessible to the global community.

    • Cites Sources: It always provides citations to the official documentation, forum discussions, or GitHub issues it pulls from, allowing users to verify the information.

    • Saves Time: The goal is to help users find accurate information faster without endlessly scrolling or switching between tabs.

The community is encouraged to test the AI assistant to help us refine this exciting feature.

We deeply appreciate your continued engagement and contribution. :rocket:
