What's new in the Core Application Framework: 3.6.0

We’re excited to announce the release of 3.6.0

New features include an integration with the Africa’s Talking SMS aggregator and a backward compatible enhancement to the processing of mRDT metadata. We’ve also implemented loads of other improvements and fixed a heap of bugs.

Nice work everyone!

Integration with Africa’s Talking makes it easier to set up robust two-way SMS messaging in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, and Nigeria. We’ve heard recently that South Africa is also supported.

Great field video tutorials of malaria Rapid Diagnostic Testing (mRDT) from the Medic and Muso teams:

How to do a mRDT?

How to capture the mRDT photo?

How does the CHW interpret the mRDT result?

How does the supervisor review the mRDT photo?

The Africa’s Talking integration is going to be useful for soooo many projects. This was a key request for the study on messaging for post-surgical follow up with Caryl Feldacker at I-TECH/University of Washington.

Hi CHT contributors! Integration with Africa’s Talking was released in v3.6. There have been a few questions regarding how sms aggregators work with the CHT platform to improve two-way messaging. Here’s a workflow diagram using Africa’s Talking to illustrate. We will be looking to add other sms aggregator service providers in the future.

Thanks to @derick and @gareth for helping to put this diagram together
