The 2022 Participatory Design Conference Series

An interesting opportunity for international teams to engage with the PDC remotely!

The Participatory Design Conference series has (since 1990) been the leading place for thinking about Participatory Design and Co-Design

Call for PDC Places

PDC 2022 is committed to embracing plurality and improving inclusivity, diversity and equitable participation within our community. We are also motivated to decrease the conference’s carbon footprint attributed to air travel, decentralising conference ownership and fostering local and international connectedness.

To that end we are proposing that while PDC will run a conference event in Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom between 30th August - 1st September 2022 (COVID-19 permitting), it will interface with a number of international “PDC Places” - smaller in-person events and activities ran in different locations around the world - with each Place shaped and organised by local PD researchers and practitioners. Asynchronous and synchronous online activities will occur before the week of the conference (15th August- 29th August) and after the conference (2nd September-16th September) to connect PDC participants across Places.

You can find more details about PDC Places here - and in the attached documents.

If you are interested in contributing to the formation of a PDC Place in your region please fill in our online form.

We would appreciate it if you can complete the form by the 28th of February 2021 . Responses will be collated, and we will be inviting you to a meeting, to be held online in March, with other contributors in order to start making progress towards forming a constellation of PDC places.
