Stock Validation Before Commodity Issuance in CHT

Hi Community,

We’re currently using the Community Health Toolkit (CHT) to support community-level commodity management and track the use of commodities and equipment during service delivery.

Right now, we display the balance on hand on each Community Health Worker’s (CHW) profile. However, we’ve noticed that CHWs are sometimes able to issue stock even when their recorded balance is zero or less than their balance on hand.

I am exploring ways to ensure CHWs can only issue commodities that are actually in stock.

Example:
If a CHW sees a child with diarrhea but has a zero balance of ORS satchets, the system should block confirmation of ORS administration and instead display a message like: *You don’t have enough stock to manage this case.

I’d appreciate hearing how others have approached this, especially ideas for enforcing stock validation without disrupting service workflows or CHW usability in the field.

Hi @Jenny - thanks so much for your question.

I believe Expose user’s contact summary when filling out forms #9301, which should ship in CHT 4.21, should enable a fix for this.

@elijah - can you speak to your experience when testing an early build of this feature?
