September 2025 Round-up highlights and recording

Thank you to everyone who joined our September Round-up - highlights are available in this Round-up video and summarized notes below.

Agenda 1: A community story presented by Edward Kakooza and @Ronald_Kica - Strengthening TB care in Uganda through integrated digital systems.

Agenda 2: A live demo - claim feedback interoperability workflow by the OpenIMIS community.

For the past 3 months, the CHT and OpenIMIS communities have designed and built a claim feedback workflow as a proof of concept to demonstrate interoperability between the two platforms.

OpenIMIS is a digital public good which powers versatile solutions that have so far been deployed in 12 countries for management of health financing and social protection programs. OpenIMIS is interoperable with other digital platforms, World Bank digital solutions CORE-MIS has been integrated with OpenIMIS to provide a joint software package with extended functionalities that support cash transfers. The teams have developed a simple OpenIMIS<>CHT claim feedback workflow; this use case demonstrates how:

  • A health facility can register a claim about the care provided to a client, this claim will trigger a claim validation task in CHT

  • The CHW will complete the validation task by collecting patients feedback on the claim record. The feedback information is shared with OpenIMIS, enabling insurance schemes to track and follow feedback from clients.

To achieve interoperability between the two systems, the teams deployed an interoperability layer and adopted the FHIR standards. A big thank you to Maxime for the excellent demo that showcases how we can use open source digital tools to connect health service delivery with financial claims.

Agenda 3: Community spotlight: welcoming Edify to the community. :sparkles:

It was exciting to welcome Edify, a Costa Rica based company that has over 15 years experience in building custom software solutions including web, mobile and back-end systems. The organization also partners with a number of non profits that align closely with their mission and values. Having joined the CHT community recently, the Edify team is already playing an active role in contributing to the CHT. The team is particularly interested in supporting the strengthening of CHT’s infrastructure, architecture and community collaboration processes and we look forward to their continued engagement and impact. Please join us in welcoming Edify to the community! :tada:

Thanks again for your participation, we look forward to seeing you in future Round-up calls.
