July 2023 CHT Round-up call recording and notes

Thank you for your participation and engagement at the July 2023 CHT Round-up call. Below are notes from the call.

Agenda 1 - Using machine learning model to improve perinatal outcomes in Zanzibar.

Agenda 2 - 2023 Q2 user research activities and report.

Medic focused working groups have regularly been conducting interviews and focused group discussions with CHT end users, technical end users to continuously understand the CHT usage as well as areas of improvement.

In Q2 of 2023, the Product Care Teams group conducted 3 generative interviews with CHT end users. The participants reported having difficulties with onboarding and registering multiple people under the same household. Also, the majority of the responses showed that the user interface (UI) in CHT is difficult to navigate. The team also collected Customer Effort Score (CES) surveys, the aim of the CES survey is to assess the ease of key workflows in CHT. The CES survey included 318 respondents which included 284 community health workers (CHWs) and 34 community health nurses (CHNs). . From the responses, it showed that the workflows are easy to work on.

Also, in Q2 of 2023, the Product Allies Teams group conducted 4 interviews with App Developers. The participants reported the difficulties of debugging and testing forms, and creating hierarchies and setting permissions. You can also find details about the results in the CHT forum post here.

Agenda 3- CHT Product features and improvements.

1. Product care team update

Besides qualitative user research activities, the Product Care team is working on quantitative research analysis. The team is investigating the user interaction by looking at sequences of user interactions in the CHT application, the team is currently building infrastructure that will enable them to get aggregate information on how health care workers are navigating through the CHT. With the qualitative research information, the team will be able to focus on building solutions to optimize the flows. If you are interested in using to use the quantitative data to help identify the opportunity for using the CHT, please reach out to @michael.

2. CHT sync

The ecosystem focus group within the product team has been working on a backend enhancement of the CHT to improve the reliability of dashboards with CHT Sync.CHT Sync is a bundled solution consisting of Logstash, CouchDB, PostgREST, DBT, and Superset. CHT Sync copies data from CouchDB and puts it into Postgres in real-time and facilitates analytics in the Superset dashboard. The near real-time sync allows accurate representation of the data on the dashboards. You can also view a demo video of CHT Sync here and the Ecosystems team is still updating the documentation and is looking forward to deploying CHT sync in production More details on CHT sync and CHT pipeline is available here.

3. CHT unified new installation process/orchestration process

In order to simplify the CHT installation process to one step running just one script, the Product Infrastructure Team is working on Unified New Installation/Orchestration Process. This new process will add uptime reliability to CHT instances by making it easy to manage the multiple docker containers used by CHT. The other benefit of the new process is that whenever there is high traffic, it will allow partners to increase capacity of CHT on demand by automatically adding new nodes/containers. Currently, the team is testing this new process and plans to issue a release to Github after completion of testing.

4. CHT core product releases

The following CHT core patch releases were released last month, these releases have fixes for critical bugs that were found in CHT 4.x versions. Partners should to upgrade to the latest CHT versions.

You can find the recording for the agenda discussed above here. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to post here. We look forward to seeing you at the next CHT Round-up call on Aug 10, 2023.
