Forms with large file attachment squad

Hello! There’s been a few CHT deployments who have expressed an interest in the CHT supporting forms with large attachments. Most recently there was a request to support large video attachments on forms being uploaded.

Given that there’s a real world need for this, it makes sense to announce the formation of a squad to pursue this feature. While developers are super helpful, we also need attendees to help with discussions, design, development, testing and/or funding. Everyone is welcome!

Note: this squad is focused on CHT Conf being able to upload forms with large attachments. It is not the same as CHWs to complete forms and attach large photos or videos with the CHT app on Android. If the community is interested in this latter feature for CHWs, we can form another squad.

Please comment on this thread if you’re interested in helping out! We’d like to define a core group of stake holders by Jun 20 so we can commence the project the week of Jun 23rd. @iesmail and @diana - I know you’re both interested in this! As well, @antony - you mentioned you might know of some other deployments who might be interested.

@shashi_sah - thanks very much for your interest in working on a ticket in the Forms with large file attachment squad! We welcome any community members that would like to join the effort.

Per @diana’s comment on the ticket please join us on the next squad call to check in with folks about how you can proceed. Specifically, by joining the call you can keep in sync with the larger group and appreciate the larger goal and impact we’re looking to achieve.

The calls are on Wed at 18:00pm New Dehli time - the next one is on Aug 20th on Google Meet. Feel free to join the call just to watch and listen. While we hope folks want to help with tickets and documentation and design, we appreciate everyone is working on a volunteer basis and may not be able to commit.

Feel free to ask any questions here in the forums or on the call!

thanks for the welcoming comment @mrjones, will surely take part in the next squad meet, just wanted to get a clarification regarding time, is it 18:00pm or 18:30 pm because in 🗓️ CHT Calendar - Stay connected with regular community events it is 18:30pm?

Yay! I’m glad to hear you’re interested in this squad. The call is on the calendar as “Forms with large attachment squad” and it’s at “Wed at 6am Pacific/1pm UTC/4pm East Africa”. Sorry if I failed to translate the time to your timezone!

If you interface with the calendar, it should allow you to add the event to your calendar with the correct time.

Hi all!

This week’s and last week’s squad call only had Medic teammates on it and no community members. In order for the squad to be successful, members for the community need to participate in the calls and development of the feature. It’s assumed that the call’s time is not good (Thursday at 7am Pacific/2pm UTC/5pm East Africa.) or there are currently other priorities the community has which has caused them to be unavailable. This is totally OK and we understand priorities change!

I’m proposing we cancel the weekly call and remove it from the public calendar. If folks on this forum feel different and want to continue on right now, please let us know! Otherwise, on October 21st I’ll delete the calendar entry.

At a future date when community members want to resume the effort to deliver the forms with large attachments feature, we’ll be ready to help out however we can!

Hi again! As planned, the recurring meeting has been paused until the community is interested in resuming it.

Thank you to all who gave their time to this effort!
