I hope you are all doing well. I work on a project to improve medical conditions in faraway and underprivileged areas. Our project focuses on improving health communication and making important health services available to everyone; regardless of their location.
We are in the process of creating and carrying out a variety of health communication projects, and we are especially interested in applying digital health solutions to enhance our effect. We have been looking into the community health toolkit as an acceptable means to help with our efforts and would like to hear from anyone who has used it and worked on similar projects.
What are the most successful methods for performing health communication in faraway communities? How do we ensure that we reach the most disadvantaged people and meet their unique health needs?
How can we best include digital health tools such as the cht into our outreach programs? What problems can we encounter during this process; and how could we solve them?
Which methods have been successful in creating trust and engagement among remote communities? How can we build strong relationships between community health workers and the people they provide?
What are the major characteristics of good chw training programs that use digital tools? How can we help chw use these advancements successfully and securely in their regular work?
What are the best ways to track and analyse the success of health awareness programs? How can we use cht data to inform our approaches and display the successful results of our efforts?
How can we create programs that are economical and have a for a long time effect? Are there any effective situations and models we can learn from?
We would like to learn from the community experiences and knowledge. Any advice; resources; and case studies you can provide would be really helpful.
Thank you in advance for your support.
These are great questions but also broad in nature so my suggestions would be to narrow down questions so that CHT community can provide better suggestions:
Could you please elaborate more on your project needs? For e.g. what specific problem are you working on? Where?
Some details on what approach you have been in mind or if something you have already tried?
Thanks @Romana for asking, as mentioned by @niraj it would be great for us to connect on a call to understand the project needs. In the meantime, I will be sharing here a few responses to your questions:
What are the most successful methods for performing health communication in faraway communities? How do we ensure that we reach the most disadvantaged people and meet their unique health needs?
Getting more context on this will be helpful. To meet unique health needs, projects usually involve users in designing digital health programs and in the prioritization of the health needs.
Which methods have been successful in creating trust and engagement among remote communities? How can we build strong relationships between community health workers and the people they provide?
CHWs are selected by the communities they serve and in most cases they are trusted community members so it is easy for them to build trust and engage with community members. CHWs are also trained on basic community health modules such as (communication, counselling, mobilization, leadership and advocacy), these modules enhance CHWs dialogue skills and helps them to build and strengthen their relations with community members.
What are the major characteristics of good chw training programs that use digital tools? How can we help chw use these advancements successfully and securely in their regular work?
Proper initial training, refresher training, compensation and supervision will ensure that CHWs are empowered and motivated to provide quality health care services, this end user training guide will help you to understand some of the considerations for CHW training.
What are the best ways to track and analyse the success of health awareness programs?
You can build visualization dashboards to help the team to monitor the progress and impact of the program.
