CHT Events Weekly Recap: March 10-14, 2025

Here’s last week’s recap of events and what’s coming up/the events you can get involved in this week.

Weekly Recap (10-14 March):

  1. Community Meetup Call

During the call, several key priorities for the Community Health Toolkit (CHT) were discussed, This included:

  • The need for interoperability, particularly in relation to OpenHIE v2 and its potential deployment using OpenHIM in the Kenyan Ministry of Health context.
  • Maya Health Alliance expressed interest in learning about the CHT interoperating with OpenMRS.
  • There was a focus on improving services in areas with poor network connectivity and a query regarding the availability of CHT apps for iPhone users.

2. Round-up Call

  • There was a community story from MSF Swiss on adaptive vaccination.
    • The presentation introduced MSFeCARE-Vacci, a tool designed to improve vaccination workflows by helping health workers prescribe the right vaccines at the right time based on patient history, comorbidities, and local protocols.
    • Pilot Study in Bangassou (CAR): A pilot study in Bangassou demonstrated the effectiveness of MSFeCARE-Vacci, showing improvements in vaccination quality indicators such as correct prescriptions and return dates.
    • Peer-to-Peer Data Transfer (P2P): The presentation highlighted a P2P feature that allows data transfer between tablets without internet access. This feature is crucial for areas with limited connectivity, enabling data synchronization when only one device has internet access, ensuring continuous data flow to central servers.
  • CHT Core Release Updates: The latest CHT Core release (v4.17.0) included technical improvements, such as replacing deprecated libraries with fetch, and UI/UX changes like adding a password reset page.
  • Community Introductions: The CHT community welcomed Sentinel Digital Technologies as a new partner, highlighting their contributions to the CHT over the past two years.

  1. CHT Governance Call (March 20, 2025): This event focuses on shaping the future of the CHT community. Participants will discuss governance-related topics, including strategic direction, community engagement, and decision-making processes. It’s an opportunity for community members to contribute to the long-term vision and operational framework of the CHT.
