April 2026 Round-up highlights and recording

Thank you for joining us at the April Round-up. It was a wonderful session and we loved hearing about the incredible work happening across the community.

We also appreciate the Datharm and Nepal project teams for sharing their experiences and learnings. Below is a summary of the key highlights from the call and you can catch up on the full session via the recording linked here.

Agenda 1: How Community Engagement and Technology is Closing the Immunization Gap in northern Nigeria

Agenda 2- CHT Version 5.x Upgrade — Lessons from Nepal deployments.

Most of CHT projects have now upgraded to version 5.x to take advantage of the latest enhancements, including reduced disk space and faster synchronization. The Nepal deployments recently upgraded from CHT v4.22 to v5.1, the teams wanted to take advantage of recently released features such as task filtering, notifications support for Nepal’s new phone number format and SMS workflow improvements.

Key highlights and lessons from the upgrade process:

  • 30 production instances and 9 dev instances were successfully upgraded
  • The team tested the process using a small number of instances, guided by the 5.x documentation and developed a claude playbook based on lessons learned and to address edge case scenarios.
  • 5x the CouchDB data space was required during the upgrade process.
  • Staging the upgrade ensured continued user access with minimal downtime.
  • Post-upgrade, disk space reduced by 33%.

Agenda 3- No-Code CHT Configuration Squad - upcoming community working group.
Configuring and customising CHT workflows remains a challenge for non-technical community members. In response to expressed community interest in more accessible configuration interfaces to ensure that most CHT implementations can be sustained, a new working group is being formed to empower non-technical members to build CHT apps without writing code. The squad will be starting its work soon, we will be sharing more updates on the forum.

A special shout out to all our presenters and facilitators; @sugat , @femi_oni , Amina and @yuv for making the session so engaging and insightful.

We look forward to seeing you at the next Round-up!
