✏️ CHT Community Meetup Notes

1 July 2025 Call

:globe_with_meridians: French interpretation available

Topics discussed

  • Community members considering adding more RTL language support to the CHT

    • Planning to deploy Arabic, and expand the tool in Afghanistan where Dari and Pashto are main language
    • Currently working on the translations and planning to share the translation files with the community in one month or so
    • Ticket we should consider working on if we decide to add more RTL languages to the CHT.
  • Working on improving the bluetooth functionality developed by SwissTPH

    • Currently working on making the feature secure by adding encryption.
  • Updates from West Africa

    • Migration to 4.21 for a national deployment, with additional national deployments considering 4.20 and 4.21
    • There are some feature requests around sharing data between CHW and supervisor via bluetooth, but also having link within the CHT for CHW to access relevant data (e.g. to see their previous months targets)
    • The ability to see previous months targets should be straightforward to implement, but it is an additional feature.
  • Updates on the integration with SMS system (Africa Talking) in West Africa

    • SMS needs to be sent to the caregiver
    • The direct integration to Africa Talking was challenging. RapidPro was used as a middleware.
    • Sending SMS in loop is also challenging, as the loop doesn’t stop when the caregiver’s list is finished.
    • The error will be shared on both CHT and RapdiPro community forums.
  • Updates from program in Nepal

    • Additional child/maternal care support
    • openIMIS <> CHT interoperability squad work progresses well
  • Has anybody worked on making a public dashboard with data collected form CHT?

    • We often use Klipfolio and Superset for dashboards
    • Some MoHes would benefit from a public dashboard with some data to be displayed in an office, for example.
    • There is no current solution at the community level shared for this need.
  • Many communite members are interested in digital health campaigns.

    • Health campaigns have a lifecycle.
    • Some implementations were done in East Africa for malaria and NCD campaigns. CHT supported this well. The intervention component is also well supported. Synching is a challenge. The Bluetooth functionality could be interesting to solve the synching. Payments for performance are needed. Turning campaigns on/off are crucial, as these campaigns are done for a limited amount of time. The commodity component is also important: tracking bed nets, drugs, etc., as campaigns users are expected to share commodities.
      • Health campaigns implementation in Kenya will be presented in the next Round up call on July 10th.
    • There are many existing open source tools for campaigns
    • There are some needs about malaria campaigns. Design is starting beginning of the month about how that could be developed. Current discussions for supporting interoperability between the CHT and another tool used by the government for the campaigns.
