An older but good journal article that touches on a patients inability to retain critical health treatment information when distressed or facing aging related challenges. Lots of opportunities to fill gaps with technology. But, big open questions regarding:

- how to provide information to patients in a format they will use
- how to integrate into a patients regular at-home routine

A friend of mine is an oncologist. A few years ago, doctors found a lump in her breast during a routine exam. Despite spending years studying the very process the doctor was explaining to her, she told me later she could barely register or remember a word of what they said! If experts struggle, its no wonder we do as well!
