# How are Targets ordered?

Based on [this](https://github.com/medic/medic-docs/blob/master/configuration/developing-community-health-applications.md#targets) documentation, I can see that `context` can be used to control whether or not a Target is visible, but it’s not clear what controls the _order_ of Targets. Is it based on the order in which they are in the `targets.js` file?

The order they show in the app is determined by their order in the app\_settings.json file. Since targets.js is compiled into the app\_settings file, that means the order of the targets in targets.js determines the order the app.

That seems like a good thing to clarify in the documentation — please feel free to edit the doc and create a PR!
